Today is September 11. A day where our country’s peace of mind, prosperity and optimism were challenged.
Ten years ago I was a student in college, and the definition of “uncertain future”.
Finally, today I am proud of my profession. My job focuses not only on family and friends and laughter, but on new beginnings. Every day in my office, known as the big wide world, I get to turn my camera on smiles, tears, strangers in a strange city and new beginnings. I get to focus on fresh starts.
So keeping with this theme, and EASILY meeting my goal of making you laugh on this serious day of days…I present to you the Gammon Family. The NEW Gammon family.

Matt and Emily were married at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD.

Emily got ready in The Ice House, a beautiful bridal suite on the Antrim 1844 grounds…WHERE SHE COULD BE A SUPER SPY!!! Yeah…she could TOTALLY spy on the guests and her hubs to be. Couldn’t fool me, though, I KNEW I was being watched. (Ok…except that one time, I figured it out pretty quick!!!)

Her ring was the absolutely COOLEST thing EVER!! Her engagement diamond ring was made to slip in and out of the blue sapphire band surrounding it. This is cool for two reasons…
A. I love a ring with color. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE.
B. It’s like….like two rings in one!! She seriously lucked out on this one.

There she goes again. YOU CHEATER!! You can see him but he CAN’T see you?? How fair is THAT???

While all of this spying and mayhem was happening in the Ice House, the fellas were getting ready across the court yard at The Smith House. And HERE? I need to formally give props to my second, Mike Lesnick, who KILLED it this day! Seriously! He was totally on awesome pills or something!
But I digress…
Matt and Nick got ready with Mike tagging along for the fun. (Incidentally, Matt ALSO ran to Giant shortly before the wedding to pick up those amazingly gorgeous orange flowers before the ceremony. Ummm….why don’t MY flowers from Giant ever look that good? I’m thinking it’s fate. They have the most gorgeous bouquet from there ever…which means they are going to have the most romantical life together EVER. *le sigh*

Alright…alright. Enough with the mushy-gushy wedding dudes…IT’S TIME TO GET HITCHED!
Emily’s father walked her down the garden path isle to Matt who was waiting under the arbor.

Reverend Bill Teyssier performed the ceremony while the Philippe Varlet Trio played for the procession and recession.

Now, at EVERY other wedding I’ve been to, the ceremony has gone smoothly…with very few jokes other than the occasional nervous tongue tied groom trying to remember his vows. I’ve known Matt Gammon for about 7 years, and Emily is RIGHT there with him in the humor department…so I shouldn’t have been surprised when THIS happened within the first ten seconds. REVEREND BILL IS AWESOME!!!!

I love shooting the getting ready. I love shooting the ceremony.
Ahem.
But I think we AAAAALL know where my heart on a wedding day really lies. My pulse picks up just a tad the closer I get to portrait time.
Do you blame me?

So after 45 minutes of me dragging the new Gammon’s around a garden, they finally (very politely) said “Seriously, Terra!!! WE HAVE to get to the reception!!” So, I reluctantly released them from my greedy portrait obsessed claws to join the meals and mayhem happening inside.

Philippe Varlet and his talented musicians moved indoors to perform Irish Fiddle Music for the the guests.

While the music played indoors, guests could also enjoy a game of croquet right outside.

Later that night…after all of THIS nuthouse (I mean that in the most loving way…considering I was part of the nuthouse too) had quieted down…

….I got to steal them away into the night for a few more portraits. (Of course…I had to wait for the last round of Ultimate Wedding Frisbee to end.)

Ahem…considering the sense of humor of these two, might I also just include my annual “Many Faces Of” collage???
Presenting….The Many Faces of Matt and Emily!

Yup….and THERE’S the weird comment from Abby.
I will autograph it for you, UNLESS it’s on an ipad. Me signing an ipad screen would NOT be awesome.
Firstly- I LOVE the shot of her dress on the bed. So classically Terra, yet different from any other dress shot I’ve seen of yours.
Secondly- YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! Will you autograph it for me? Or sneeze on it? Wait… that’s gross.
