D ave and Bethany were a bit of a surprise…a GREAT Fourth of July surprise (and still a bit of a mystery). I got a Facebook message from an old high school chumly who said that her brother needed a second shooter for a wedding the next day. I didn’t have any plans, so I decided to shoot him an email. We quickly decided that I would head to Vinton, VA the next day. We shot all day and I got to know Mike Lesnick, the primary shooter. Right before I left, we walked out to his car to download the images I had shot for the day and THIS is the conversation we had…..
“So, I haven’t heard from Kixie in a while…” (Kixie is the high school chumly I spoke of earlier.)
“Yeah!! Trixie…..”
*crickets chirping*
Kixie had said her BROTHER needed help at a wedding. Mike, obviously did not know who Kixie was and actually told me so. We are still not really sure how I ended up at the wedding in Vinton or how I even got the email from Kixie in the first place….but I am really glad it happened!
It was a blast second shooting for you that day Mike!!!
Right…if you can solve this mystery, do fill me in later on the details. In the meantime….on to the wedding!!
I drove down to Vinton, VA on Saturday and Bethany and the girls for some getting ready and preparation shots. Having never met Bethany before, I was in awe of her gorgeosity (along with the gorgeosity of all of her bridesmaids)!! At 5:30, we headed over to the STUNNING Boxtree Lodge. Let me tell ya….I would shoot there any day. They had two beautiful barns (one was used for the reception), a pavilion for a gorgeous outdoor wedding, hills stretching out with dirt roads and mountainous backdrops, and even a big boat-tree house thing!! STUNNING!!! It would be a fun place to shoot some relaxed portraits or an engagement session!
The part-ay went well into the night, with wine tasting for the guests, fabulous catering, and dancing for all. Since I was there second shooting, I cut out a little early to make the three hour drive back home to the DC area. So, although I didn’t catch any fireworks shots (Mike did, and they are fantabulous!) I did catch many of the hidden moments of the day with an absolutely wonderfully stunning and fun couple.

There is a series of images showing the bridesmaid giving the groom a wet-willy. They make me smile…and I may give them their own post.

A wine tasting station!!! How cute of an idea is that!!!????

Congratulations Bethany and Dave and thanks again Mike, for letting me come along and watch you work!! You are a super fun guy and a really talented photographer!!
