Washington DC Wedding Photographer: Terra Dawn Photography
Today’s post is HUGE!!! (And I’m not talking size, here people.)
I’m branchin’ out and takin’ you guys with me.
I’m broadening my horizons.
I’m….uh….going from sea to shining sea?
I dunno. That’s all I got.
ANYWAYS! To make a bunch of cheesy sayings short, I’m starting up a new division of Terra Dawn Photography! A lot of people call it senior photography, but the way I figure it….hot shots are not just for seniors. Sooooo…..Hot Shots it is! I’m hoping to bring a bit of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and perhaps Rolling Stone to the mainstream of the DC area. The Hot Shots division will be specifically for teens looking to get THE MOST FANTABULOUS (or insert exciting word here) facebook, myspace, twitter, blogging shots EVER! Not mention mom and dad will probably want to hang a few on their walls.
You wanna see what they look like? Do ya? Do ya?
Drum roll please…..
badadadadadadadadadadada….(lame imitation of a drum roll)
Readers….meet Eden. Eden, readers. (She is TOTALLY wishing you guys a “Live long and prosper”.

Now that you have met the girl of the hour……see what this girl can do!!
She came into the shoot wanting something dramatic, and even a bit “Twilight-ish”. I must say…I do love the look of that movie. She had five looks prepared (although only four of them are shown here….the fifth was totally cute….) and we ended up shooting for approximately five hours.
I met them at their house, where we got everything together, jumped in the SUV…and headed out to Manassas Battlefield.
Ok…ok. There’s a reeeally funny story here. We started off shooting fairly serious poses. You know…the dramatic type. As we shot, a mini-van pulled into the parking lot behind me and out piled four (obviously athletic, and obviously high school) guys. Their gaze IMMEDIATELY went to the girl on the hill in the ball gown. Eden giggled and blushed, but continued on. Such a trooper!! About two minutes later three more mini-vans pulled into the parking lot. Yes…the rest of the track team had arrived. There were a few (very unhappy) teen girls amongst the group, but the guys didn’t seem to mind and just kept gawking in our general direction.
Let me just say…we got A LOT of smiling pictures from this point on. The fun part was walking through the track team to get back to our own car. Eden’s face matched the red color of her dress! (It was actually very becoming….don’t worry, Eden.)

Personally? I think these black and white, aged shots are so ridiculously WOW……

From there, we figured the cross country team would probably head up over the hill to the stone house. So, we promptly packed up and headed in that direction. Although the guys never showed, Eden ROCKED this location!!
We started on the hill and quickly found an area of tall grass that was totally made for us. (I loooove tall grass and blue skies. *sigh* Such a perfect day….)

The light was fading pretty quick (as was Grace…Eden’s little sister). So, we decided to head to old town Manassas to finish up with our last three outfits. Between the old buildings and the train station, I was in texture heaven.

We walked towards the train station just as the sun was hitting the horizon…and as I turned a corner, I JUST ABOUT FLIPPED A LID!!!!! SERIOUSLY!! The lighting hit this building amazingly!!! I totally threw in front of the wall…but man can this girl bang out a good pose in an second!!

After I could breath again (and after I could assure Eden of my sanity) she dragged me in the direction of the old train. The textures on one of the building near there was the PERFECT place to finish up the day. Our light crept slowly away, and I managed to click the shutter before it was completely gone.

Eden, you are always a blast to photograph!! I love you guys dearly and can’t wait to show you all the final shots!!!!!
