I cannot tell you what an honor (and I am NOT saying that lightly) it was to be a part of Matoli and Alexander’s wedding day.

I met Matoli and the girls at the Reva Day Spa in Columbia, MD at 9AM. We had fabulous conversation, ranging from Alex Mac (Old Nickelodeon Show) to a certain…errr…..modern day Vampire? *cough *Edward Cullen*cough* I could hang out with those girls any day of the week.

Onto the wedding…….
With black dresses and black tuxes, the pink and cream details of the wedding really stood out. And once you added the beautiful (and surprising) and colorful (and surprising), traditional African wedding attire (she is from Cameroon) it was a wedding I will most definitely NEVER forget. Why, you may ask, did I use the word “surprising” in reference to the beautiful and traditional African wedding traditions?
Let me explain.
A previous conversation with Matoli went something like….
Me: Will there be any details of the wedding that might be non-traditional to the wedding or reception?
Matoli: Hmm….nothing that I can think of……

Ah yes…silly me….I DO see this at every wedding I shoot.
Kidding aside, it was probably one of the coolest experiences I will have at a wedding. It was so much fun to watch as Matoli’s family and friends danced her and her new husband into the center of their circle on the dance floor. I have officially learned how to shoot AND dance. Multi-tasking….oh, yeah…..
And then….there was the couple. An amazingly sweet and stunning couple. I had fun with Matoli and her girls in the morning and was welcomed into the festivities by the groom and his groomsmen that evening. It….was….AWESOME (said in the Rhino from “Bolt” voice)!!

So, in a final image to give you a taste of the eclectically beautiful slideshow to come…………
I bid you all adieu……
